Funny, many of us (me, me, me) can “talk a good game,” from our armchair, our pulpit, our pew or our “pee-you.” But don’t let the game get real …
IMAGINE: Jesus just threw you the ball on a “down and out” route. We just want to go long (big bucks and bling) and we know “Hail Mary” well! Also, we know a “down and out” can be painful and we might get nailed. What do you do: Punt/Kick (“pass the buck”), Quit (it’s too hard), blame your teammates (excuses) or run your route/grind it out (“Walk it out,” don’t talk about it)? Oh, and He took away our referee jersey (judgement) – game over! Most plays we may have to grind out, yard-by-yard (1 Day @ A *)!
Back to reality: The game of life is not a spectator sport and is not for “the weak at heart,” at all. We know that all plays/players are not called, but our QB knows them all, even how to fix the broken ones – plays and players (Jer 29:11). Today, lace’em up (gospel of peace), girt’em up (with truth) … and put on your helmet (of salvation), ’cause it’s going to get rough out there! Keep your eye on your heavenly quarterback and the ball (the word)! You can’t get to the heavenly endzone without keeping your eyes on Him! Run your route, someone needs your witness (“Walk it out,” don’t try to “talk a good game”)!
P.S., “Lip service” subscription cancelled; “Armchair QB (and Referee), retired; a “Hail Mary” won’t get you nailed; and only Jesus can get you into the heavenly endzone! Armour up, baby, ALL THE WAY (Eph 6:11-20). Time to make a play – be ALL IN (Fully committed)!
