CHEERS TO SEARS: Bankruptcy Update
Sears has been a household name for my family for as long as I can remember! Likewise, it has been around so long, I thought it would always be an “American Tradition,” like apple pie.
Thought: While shopping online and globally is the new norm (e.g., comfortable, convenient and, often, time/cost saving), it is also important that we remember to infuse our local retail/manufacturer bloodlines frequently! After all, the real “savings” may not be in “dollars and cents,” but in “common sense communities (e.g., saving valued friends, families, homes and communities)!”
Note: I grew up in a city that had as its motto: “<city name>, a city on the move!” Once the majority of the factories left, so did the lifeblood of the city! Who knew?
It does not suffice to say, some heartbeats impact entire communities. When a giant dies … or work is outsourced, 100s or 1000s of jobs may be gone from our communities in a blink, FOREVER! To state it more clearly, someone (“we the people”) must take the time to monitor our community heartbeat and take corrective action(s), when necessary!
We can spectate or participate! After all, it is our community’s growth and success at risk! If home is still “where the heart is,” what role do you choose to play (e.g., Sears may not be at risk in your community, but do you know what is; what action can you take)?
