I am a/an _____ (Enter the one talent/skill that comes to you as natural as breathing)?
Is it STIFLED/SUPRESSED or IN FULL USE?
As early as I can remember, I loved art with a passion. Around age 6 I won my first school art contest, so I was encouraged. My mom kept that little art piece for 40+ years. That event gave me so much pride.
Was it STOLEN? Around age 7, I came to understand that art was not a primary subject taught in school (i.e., I cam to know it as rote education: Read, Write and Regurgitate). My passion was stolen and locked in life’s dungeon.
Can it be REGAINED/REKINDLED? Almost 50 years later, my painting dream has been rekindled (thank you Bob Ross, R.I.P.; Ross Art Products), better late than never, right? I’ve never stopped doing creative/artistic things, even if only a hobby. How can you not FOLLOW YOUR PASSION?
GO GET IT! If you truly have a passion for anything worthwhile, go after it and stay after it. Even if you have to fail (at first), do it alone or in secret, it’s your gift – Go get it! LESSON: I struggle telling my son he has to “go get a job,” when he really wants to pursue his art/music. My guidance to him is “pursue your music,” but you have to put a roof over your head and food on your table. Being homeless, it’s hard to pursue anything but survival (for real/no doubt).
